The page does not open completely in the browser: pictures are displayed incorrectly. The computer turns on, but the operating system does not start: possible causes and solutions to the problem The page does not open completely

Sometimes computer users may face unpleasant situations when something does not work for reasons unknown to them. A common situation when there seems to be the Internet, but the pages in the browser still do not open. Let's see how to fix this problem.

If the site does not start in the browser, then it is immediately visible - a similar inscription appears in the center of the page: "The page is not available", "Unable to access the site" etc. This situation can occur for the following reasons: lack of Internet connection, problems in the computer or in the browser itself, etc. To eliminate such problems, you can check your PC for viruses, make changes in the registry, hosts file, DNS server, and also pay attention to browser extensions.

Method 1: check your internet connection

A banal, but very common reason why pages do not load in the browser. The first thing to do is check your internet connection. An easy way would be to launch any other installed browser. If the pages in any web browser start, then there is an Internet connection.

Sometimes the system crashes, leading to the closure of the necessary browser processes. To resolve this problem, it will be enough to restart the computer.

Method 3: checking the shortcut

Many people start their browser from a shortcut on the desktop. However, it has been noticed that viruses can spoof labels. The next lesson is about how to replace an old shortcut with a new one.

Method 4: check for malware

A common reason for the incorrect operation of the browser is the action of viruses. You need to conduct a full scan of your computer using antivirus or special program. How to scan your computer for viruses is described in detail in the next article.

Method 5: cleaning extensions

Viruses can replace installed extensions in the browser. Therefore, a good solution to the problem is to remove all add-ons and reinstall only the most necessary ones. Further steps will be shown using Google Chrome as an example.

Method 6: using automatic parameter detection

You can also configure the proxy server settings in the browser itself. For example, in Google Chrome, Opera and Yandex Browser, the actions will be almost the same.

In Mozilla Firefox browser

In Internet Explorer, do the following:

Method 7: check the registry

If the above options did not help to solve the problem, then you should make changes in the registry, since viruses can be registered in it. On licensed Windows, the value of the entry "Appinit_DLLs" should usually be empty. If not, then it is likely that a virus is registered in its parameter.

Method 8: changes in the hosts file

Method 9: change the DNS server address

Method 10: changes in the DNS server

So we examined the main options for actions when the pages in the browser do not open, but the Internet is there. We hope your problem has now been resolved.

The first step is to establish the cause of the malfunction. If the situation is such that the computer turned on, but then the operating system (OS) itself does not load, then naturally you need to dig in the direction of the same OS.

And if the situation that the computer does not even turn on at all, that is, it does not show absolutely any signs of life, then the situation can be much worse.

Here are some recommendations on what to do if your computer won't boot!

For the first case (when the computer turns on, but the OS itself does not boot).

Here, as a rule, there is a problem with system files, or their damage or complete loss. Try the tips below, all tips are for Windows XP:

  1. Use the “Load the last good configuration (with working parameters)” option. You can use it as follows: after turning on the computer, press the F8 key, a window will appear, and in it select the above menu item.
  2. Go to safe mode and try to restore the previous state of the computer. To do this, when booting the computer, press the F8 key (as in the previous paragraph), select "Safe Mode", if the system boots, go to the following path: Start -\u003e All Programs -\u003e Accessories -\u003e System Tools -\u003e System Restore. And following the wizard's prompts, try to restore an earlier working system.
  3. If the previous methods did not help, then I suggest that you familiarize yourself with another option. This option will return your computer to working capacity with a 99% probability. What do we have to do? You just need to update the old system. To do this, you need a bootable Windows XP disc. Insert the disc into the DVD-ROM, reboot, it should boot from the CD, for this you need to set the appropriate item in the BIOS, or you can call the boot option menu with the F12 key, when booting the PC, and choose to boot from CD / DVD-ROM, but this method may not work for everyone.
After booting from the CD, follow the prompts to select “Install Windows XP”. When a window appears, notifying that a previously installed OS has been found and press the R key. Thus, the Windows installer will update the existing copy. Wait for the end and try to boot normally.
For the second case (when the computer does not turn on at all).

In fact, there can be a lot of reasons here, and it is sometimes very difficult to help in absentia in this case. And, as a rule, the reason is a malfunction of some device (motherboard, power supply, RAM, etc.). At home, especially not for a sophisticated user, there is simply no way to check the performance of a device by replacing it with a known working one. But there is a way out, though not 100%.

The first, try to reset the BIOS. To do this, remove the battery for a few minutes. Or close the jumper contacts to reset the BIOS. Look for the jumper next to the battery and is designated as Clear CMOS (possible designations: CCMOS, CL_CMOS, Clear RTC, CRTC, CLRTC, CL_RTC). If it doesn't help, read on.

Second. It is necessary to disconnect ALL computer devices, leaving only the motherboard connected. That is, we take out the video card, all the RAM slots, disconnect the hard drive and DVD-ROM from the power supply, if there are additional devices (internal modem, sound card, etc.) we also take them out, leaving only the motherboard connected to the power supply.

And now we try to turn on the computer, if it turns on, then the problem is in one of the disabled devices. Turn off your computer and try ALTERNATELY connect devices, checking the computer for performance. First, connect the most important devices (video card, hard drive, RAM), and then the secondary ones.

Thus, if, when installing a device, the computer stops turning on, you yourself will determine the faulty device. If the computer did not turn on with one motherboard, then the problem is either with it itself or with the power supply.

Many have faced such a problem as the lack of Internet on a computer, laptop or other devices. In this case, the browser displays a message: "The web page is unavailable" or a similar inscription. Common culprits for this are: an accident on the provider's line, malfunctioning home equipment (router, network card, etc.) or incorrect settings. All this can be described in two words - "there is no Internet". And what about those for whom the connection works, but the web pages do not open?

Problem analysis

The first step is to make sure that Internet access is actually present and working correctly. As a rule, other programs using the network work in such a situation (Skype, ICQ, etc. are available).

But there are times when they are not there, and there is no way to install these applications. In this case, you can check the network operation using the command line. To do this, press the key combination Window + R and enter cmd in the window that appears. A terminal should appear in front of the user, where they enter the ping command (then you can try to enter the address of the Yandex site, for example, it will turn out - ping www.yandex.ru). If the described problem occurs, this command will display a message about the impossibility of connecting to the resource. But at the same time, if you enter ping 8.8.8.8, a message about the successful status will appear.

ping www.yandex.ru

The reasons for the problem when sites do not open can be different. This could be due to:

  • problems with the dns service;
  • the impact of viruses and malware;
  • incorrect proxy server settings;
  • incorrect configuration of the host file;

DNS problems

A common culprit in the situation when the browser does not open sites, but Internet access is not closed, is the operation of the DNS server. You can determine this problem as described above, when it was necessary to open a command line and ping the address of any resource by domain name and ip.

Each site has its own indicative location number called an IP address. There are many different resources on the global web and they all have a unique address. In order not to torment the memory of a person, it was thought up to create a service that, when entering a site name (for example, Yandex), could determine its IP address.

Sometimes there are situations when the provider's DNS server does not work or the network settings in the router or computer are lost. The reason why the pages of the sites do not open has been clarified, it remains to explain how to solve this problem.

There are two solutions. If the network settings are lost, then here you need to correct them to the correct ones and, if necessary, restart the equipment. In the event of a DNS failure, you can change the settings on the network adapter. To do this, click "Start" - "Control Panel" - "Network and Internet" - "Network and Sharing Center" - "Changes to network adapter settings". Here, on the "Connected to local network" icon, right-click and select the "Property" parameter. Then select the item TCP version 4 and in the window that appears, select the item "Use the following DNS addresses". Below in the window, enter 8.8.8.8 (public Google DNS server) or 77.88.8.8 (public DNS Yandex). Then click the "Save" or "Apply" button.

To check the work, you can open the command line (Window + R - cmd), then you need to check the connection (for example, with Yandex). We enter the ping www.ya.ru command. If you do the right things, you can see information about the server response time below.

Influence of viruses and malware

Also, the problem when sites do not open in the browser, but there is Internet access and DNS is working, can be associated with the influence of viruses and malware. In this case, it will help to solve the question "Why do not the pages open in the browser?" system check with specialized programs: AdwCleaner, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free, Zemana AntiMalware, etc. These utilities allow you to find malware that caused problems with opening pages on the Internet.

Incorrect proxy settings

Another reason why sites are not displayed in the browser may be changes or entering data on an incorrect proxy server. In this case, the computer is connected to the Internet and the connection works in all parameters.
To fix this situation, you need to go to the browser settings. To do this, go to the control panel, where they select the browser (or browser) properties item.

In the menu that opens, select the "Connections" tab and click on the "Network Settings" button.

Here, in the window that appears, they check all the parameters, and if they are not needed, they simply erase all the information and select the automatic detection item.

After that, in browsers, sites should show their pages.

Incorrect host file configuration

Also, the reason why Internet resource pages may not open may be incorrect configuration of the host. This is an unlikely situation, but it's worth checking out. The host file is intended to record the domain names of sites and their IP addresses, but as a rule it is empty and sends all requests to the DNS server. Sometimes there are situations when a malicious program writes some parameters and the browser becomes inoperable.

To check the configuration of the file, go to the Windows system folder on drive C. Next, System32 \\ drivers \\ etc and open the host with notepad. As a rule, it has a standard content as shown in the figure:

If, after the description of localhost (127.0.0.1), there are lines with information about any sites and their domain names, and the slash is not in front of these data, then most likely the browser does not work properly because of them. To fix this situation, you just need to delete these lines and save the changes to the file. Then you need to restart your computer and try to browse the web again.

The situation when the computer is connected to the network, but the sites are inaccessible to the user is common. In the first place, this is a problem caused by outages on the ISP side when the DNS servers are down. The second most common thing when Internet resource sites are unavailable is the impact of malware. In this case, it is recommended to have good anti-virus software and to carry out preventive measures to detect viruses more often.

Problems with the browser when it does not open the pages are familiar to many users. It seems that they paid for the Internet on time, and all the parameters were configured correctly, and the application refuses to follow the links.
There are cases when sites do appear in front of the user's eyes, but they do it very, very slowly. Sometimes the problem relates exclusively to video files or images posted on the World Wide Web. A common situation is that only one browser does not want to launch Internet pages, while other browsers perform their functions properly.

The first task that arises before the user is to find out the root cause of this problem.

Experts identify sources of problems due to which Internet browsers may not access all sites at the same time:

  • Registry;
  • Hosts file;
  • Virus and Antivirus;
Also, keep in mind that sometimes the reason lies in the TCP IP protocol or in the static routes.

Registry check

If you are having difficulty opening web pages, the first thing to look out for is the registry. Check it and in case of errors, edit its content.
How do I open the registry? In theory, you can search the system drive. A faster option, however, is to get through the command execution utility. Press Win + R, then type regedit and confirm the action with the Enter key.
An editor will appear on your screen. Check out what the registry contains. On the left are sections, one of which is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Sequentially select the following subsections: first SOFTWARE, then Microsoft, then Windows NT, then CurrentVersion and at the end - Windows. On the right you can see the parameters. You should be interested in the AppInit_DLLs parameter. Make sure its value is blank. If it is a file path, then erase all text. Editing is available using the context menu launched by the right mouse button.

Try to get to the AppInit_DLLs parameter and under HKEY_CURRENT_USER. It must also remain empty. If the value still had to be edited, then restart the computer. In most cases, this algorithm is an effective solution.

Hosts file

Testing for problems with this file is done using Skype. If it works, but one or all browsers do not, then you need to change the text in the hosts file. In practice, this problem only applies to certain sites, so check a few different links.
It is possible to find this file along this path: C: \\ Windows \\ System32 \\ drivers \\ etc. Its peculiarity is the absence of any extension.

For normal operation, the last line must be the following text: "127.0.0.1 localhost". If there are further certain records, then they were definitely created artificially. This was most likely done by a virus. Therefore, erase all unnecessary text and reboot the system. Launch the site in a web browser. If the problem persists, go to the next step.

DNS problem

If the browser does not open pages precisely because of DNS, then this reason can be fixed very easily. Run the command line through Start - System Tools or by entering the command "cmd" in the search bar of the Start menu.
For this, several packets are sent to the server side of any operational site. Experts call this "ping" action. This is because the command is called ping. For example, let's enter ping google.com and press Enter.

If in response you received several lines with the parameters "number of bytes", "time" and "TTL", then everything is fine. If a message appears stating that the site could not be found, it is probably all about DNS. You can 100% verify this by entering the ping 8.8.8.8 command. Received a normal response? If so, the problem is DNS.

This inaccuracy in the properties of the Internet connection is being fixed. Disable auto-complete and enter the value manually. Enter 8.8.8.8 for the primary DNS server and 8.8.4.4 for the alternate. After that, the Internet should work in the same way as before.

Viruses

Malware can prevent browsers from working properly. As a rule, under the influence of viruses, Skype, as in the case of the previous problem, will continue to fully perform all functions.

Viruses often target specific programs. Some are intended for specific browsers. At the same time, it is very difficult for the user to independently detect the presence of a trojan or other type of virus on his computer. Therefore, you cannot do without the help of special utilities.

The savior for the user can be a program called antimalware, which effectively fights against malicious files. Most of these programs are not free. More precisely, certain functionality is available to everyone, but only its customers receive the full version of the program. Only purchased and timely updated antiviruses can guarantee one hundred percent protection.

This type of virus as Trojan.Winlock is directed to block network access and certain functions of web browsers: Opera, Chrome, Yandex, etc. Many users have already encountered an unpleasant situation when a request appears on the screen to enter SMS to unblock further work with the browser ... It is practically impossible to close either the deposit or the window by standard clicking on the "cross". We'll have to use the help of the Task Manager. Be sure to then scan the system using antivirus.

Sometimes malware blocks popular websites. Often, users of Vkontakte and other social networks face this difficulty. Blocks viruses and sites hosting antivirus content.

Thus, the only right decision for the user is to take care of the protection for the computer in advance. Popular antivirus programs are the best PC defenders. Although they are paid, they do well with their functions. Experts advise not to save money on information security, especially for those who have important data on their computers.

Free antivirus programs are suitable for those whose computer is not a working tool.

Antivirus and firewall

Often, antiviruses themselves do not allow access to certain sites. And although such a blocking is a security measure, if you really want to click on the desired link, you can remove it. By the way, standard security tools such as firewalls and firewalls also tend to impose such restrictions on users.

Overcoming this limitation is done by configuring the anti-virus program.

As for the firewall, its configuration in most cases is the work of the system administrator.

Static routes

Fake routing table entries are often the root cause of inaccessible sites. If you have a large number of such records, deleting one at a time can take an hour of your time. For this purpose, the "route -f" command was invented. It must be entered on the command line. This command will clear the entire list of routes.

Reset TCP IP Settings

The last possible option is to reset the TCP IP parameters. Run Command Prompt. First enter the command "netsh winsock reset" followed by "netsh int ip reset".
You need to check the result after rebooting the system.

Outcome

Practice shows that for the second and subsequent problems with opening the browser, the solution is found much faster than the first time. There is always the option of calling a specialist who will definitely find the hitch. However, to do this, make sure that you have correctly entered the network settings, and the date for making the payment for the Internet has not yet come up. Reinstalling the operating system can be an even more drastic method. However, be sure to save important data before doing this. Sometimes restarting Windows can help you sort out the problem faster than all of the above methods. This is especially true for Windows 7, 8 and 10, because they install drivers automatically.

On this page I will try to collect all known solutions to the problem when pages are not fully loaded in the browser. Websites do not open completely. For example, some images or scripts on sites are not loaded. Pages are crooked in the browser, or only part of the site loads. And some sites don't open at all. Or they open but not from the first time, but from the second, or third. We will consider solutions for Windows 10, 8, 7. Simply put, for computers. If you encounter such a problem on a mobile device, then most likely the reason is the router (if you are connected through it)... I will write about this in more detail in the article. This is how it all looks roughly.

I myself have encountered a problem several times when my browser did not open the sites completely. For example, pictures were not loaded on VK. This also happens on Odnoklassniki and other social networks. I don't remember exactly, but my solution was simple: clear the cache, restart the browser. There are also more serious reasons. For example, the MTU value is incorrect. This parameter can be changed in the router settings, or in Windows itself.

The most common reasons:

  1. Browser glitch. As a rule, restarting the browser, restarting the computer, clearing the browser cache helps.
  2. Problem with add-ons in browsers. Sometimes, some add-ons installed in the browser prevent the page from loading completely. The most common culprit for this are add-ons that block ads on sites.
  3. Incorrect MTU value. We will not understand what it is and how it affects the loading of sites, but very often because of it, sites either do not load at all, or do not load completely. As I wrote above, MTU can be changed in the router settings (if the Internet is connected directly, then in the Windows settings)... Usually there is a value of 1500. After installing 1460, everything starts to open normally. But there is no guarantee that MTU is the problem in your case.
  4. Viruses and malware. I am sure that some viruses can prevent browsers from displaying pages normally.

I want to note that such problems with the "crooked" display of sites can be observed in all browsers: Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Yandex Browser, Microsoft Edge and even Internet Explorer. Which, and without any problems, can load sites incompletely, or crookedly 🙂

Websites do not open completely: the first solution and finding the reason

For starters, I advise close the browser and restart the computer, or laptop. Maybe everything will work fine. If you connect to the Internet via a router, or a modem, then you can also restart it. It definitely won't hurt.

Since nowadays a router is almost always installed, and all devices will connect to the Internet through it, then check how sites open on other devices. You can check even on Android or iOS smartphones and tablets. But it's better, it's over, on the computer. If possible, connect your computer to a different internet. For example, to another Wi-Fi network, which can be shared even from the phone.

Check how everything works through another browser. Even the standard one. Remember, maybe you installed some add-ons or programs before.

So we can understand what is the cause of our problem, and where to go next. You can describe the result of these checks and reflections in the comments. I will try to help.

Clear browser cache

This is one of the first solutions to try when this kind of problem appears. I am planning a separate article on this topic, but here I will briefly show you how to clear the cache in the most popular browsers.

If you have some other browser, then I think that you can easily find the function of clearing the cache in the settings. Or ask in the comments.

Checking browser add-ons installed

If clearing the cache did not help, and the page in the browser still does not open completely, then I recommend checking the installed add-ons and temporarily disabling them (if any).

You can also do this in the browser settings, somewhere in the "Extensions", "Add-ons" section. For example, in the Opera browser:

Disable all installed extensions temporarily.

If you do not know where these settings are located in your browser, then see the article. In it, I showed you how to manage extensions in popular browsers.

Also, see what programs you have installed and running on your computer. You may find something suspicious.

MTU and problems with incomplete loading of sites

I already talked about this parameter above in the article. As a rule, it is changed in the router settings. Very often, due to an incorrect MTU value, there are problems with displaying pages when connecting to the Internet via 3G / 4G modems. When the modem is connected to the router. But this also happens with a cable connection.

You can change MTU in the router settings, in the section with the Internet connection settings: "WAN", "Internet".

I will show you how to change MTU on some routers.

In the WAN section there is an item "MTU Size". By default, there is 1500. You can register 1460, or even 1400.

If you have PPPoE, then you need to click on the "Advanced" button and change the value there.

Save the settings and reboot the router.

In the "Internet" section. MTU field.

I cannot show in detail how to do this on routers from different manufacturers. Therefore, if you do not find these settings, write in the comments.

Virus check and more ...

If all else fails, check your computer for viruses. You can run a scan in the antivirus (if installed), or check the system with one of the free antivirus utilities. For example, Dr.Web CureIt !.

If, when connecting to another Internet (Wi-Fi network), the sites are loaded the first time and completely, then it makes sense to call the provider's support and explain the problem. Maybe they have some kind of problem.

You can also try on Google Public DNS.

I told everything I know on this topic at the moment. If there is new information, I will definitely add it. You can also share your observations and advice. Good luck!
