Life block for the efficiency processor. Food for guitar pedalboard

Raised by Sashko DIY, the topic itself came together because we had a life block for guitar effects installed at our workshop. And I thought - why don’t I write about this article?

How do you prepare the ZhIVLENYA BLOCK (BP) for yourself?

In principle, obviously, the average knowledge of radio electronics, accuracy, and most importantly - the task of doing it is not so difficult.
In this article we will recognize - HOW TO BUILD A LIFE BLOCK - stabilization, on the number of volts and voltage ratings. Partially on the butt of that power supply unit that was given to us.

First of all, what is needed for the successful implementation of the plan is a combination of technical knowledge (hereinafter referred to as T.Z.). And then the elemental base is selected from the technical specifications. It’s good that the technical specifications mean that everything is flawed.
What needs to be restored?
Dimensions, operating jets and voltages, volume and configuration of outputs/inputs, ease of operation.

This is how T.Z. for our pedalboard:
- Basket dimensions: up to 55mm – height, up to 90mm – width. It was also decided to make the design as light as possible, not to the detriment of such minds.

- Operating flows and voltages: 9B, 1A; 12V, 1A. De 1A is the maximum rate of return for all effects with such a voltage.
And what is your maximum comfort level? What is the voltage? It's simple - call the horn and indicate them either on the body of the guitar effect (voltage and polarity), or in the user manual (strum that lives together). Watch and write them down.
In our series there were 6 guitar effects with a voltage of 9V and surges of up to 100mA per 1 effect. This means that in order to determine the minimum compression of the currents, we need to combine the flow of effects: 100mA * 6 = 600mA = 0.6A - this will be the maximum compression of the flows for 6 effects. If raptom strum BP is bigger, it’s not scary. And if you have less, you can get away with it.
The lamp preamp is connected to 12V. Living strum at nyogo – 1A. Let's assume: at 9V there will be a supply of 0.4A across the circuit. At 12V there will be no reserve.

- Number and configuration of outputs.

Calculate the number of outputs that indicate the number of effects, or a few more – since the power supply has a reserve supply. Our version of the power supply has 10 outputs at 9V and 3 outputs at 12V, in which case, instead of a preamp, you need to connect a number of effects with a limiting flow of up to 1A.

- Ease of operation.

It was necessary to hang the following: so that the power supply cord for the power supply is removed, so that the power supply goes under the pedalboard.

Now you can select the required manufacturing parts.

What is required for preparation?
- Housing of required dimensions. We vibrated a plastic case 55mm x 85mm x 140mm. The fragments of the power supply are collected under the pedalboard - the severity of its trampling changes - then. any parameter such as “anti-vandalism” is a day. Then such a body is much lighter, less metal. Such a building will cost 150-300 UAH.
- Transformatori. It is necessary to select a transformer of the required ratings (9V x 1A; 12V x 1A) and with such dimensions, so that it would not fit into the housing. In this case, it is important and important. (We implemented the life block circuit in a slightly different way, but I will describe how to get the most - the simplest and most reliable way - with a transformer). Know the transformer. You can have one - the highest denomination, but in this case you need to remember what strings you need to put together. Tobto. You can take a transformer with two windings of 12V and 1A or one winding of 12V or 2A.

The upper voltage value must be selected beyond the maximum, and the voltage value must be selected beyond the maximum. Still, choose the transformer first - for its financial and heavy/dimensional characteristics, and the housing - at the very end, so that the transformer and everything else fits. In the photo there is a transformer, which is slightly larger than the body in height. There are two secondary windings - 9V and 12V. Such a transformer with 1A windings can cost from 1000 to 2000 rubles.

- Parts for straightening machine and stabilizer:
The same bridges of necessary authorities - that’s it. From a supply of flow and voltage. The rule here is simple - the larger the supply, the more reliable the design. However, so is the price of the thing. You can select elements from stock 3-5 times (you can buy from 4 diodes, or you can buy ready-made). Capacitors, stabilizer microcircuits Those that are necessary capacitors, ask your partner to write to the microcircuits, but the rule is the same - the more capacitance, the less pulsation, the more stable the food.
If we take our technical specification, we would need: 2 diode bridges (in the photo - up to 200V for the voltage and up to 1.5A for the mains), 2 stabilizers - for 9V and for 12V, 4 capacitors. Make such power supplies consist of microcircuits of non-regulated stabilizers, charged at the same rating. Stabilizers of the L78XX and LM78XX family.

Capacitors. We took 10uF capacitors. Minimum or standard ratings of the capacitor capacities are induced in the device during operation of the microcircuits.

You will spend close to 500 UAH for everything.

- Drukovana fee. If you want to work DIY, you will need a single-ball slab, chlorine-free, choose the method of applying small tracks on the hand board, and properly trained hands on your head, which is all to sell. The results of gentle manual etching are shown in the photo:

Possibly, if you are going to prepare the Drukovan payment first, maybe. there will be less added value, but it will be entirely practical. The price is around 500 rubles – if you need to collect the payment manually.

We are planning to manufacture other boards in Zelenograd. In specialized vibroculture.

So! Also, do not forget to think about the method of attaching the other boards. And those whose microcircuits require cooling!
In our version, an aluminum plate acts as a radiator (as seen in the photo with details). It is also necessary to unsolder the wires to connect the power supply to the guitar effects. The average price of expendable materials when prepared at home using these parameters is around 2000-3000 rubles. Cream of time-hour costs.

We created such a life block for guitar effects:
Everything is in the best possible conformity to the specifications - lightweight, inserted under the pedalboard, power cord that can be removed, 12V - 1A - 3 outputs, 9V - 1A - 10 outputs, set of cords for connecting with guitar effects + 1 spare (14 pcs. - size up your pedalboard).

The order of succession of distant operatives:
1. We know, select, and buy the necessary parts and expendable materials.
2. Manufactured circuit boards are prepared (conductors are diluted, drilled, etched).
3. We install other boards (we solder transformer bases, reactor bridges, capacitors, microcircuits).
4. Prefabricated housing: drilled mounting holes, installed fastenings, mounted: inputs/outputs, transformers, other boards.
5. Testing, finishing. At this stage, we check the voltage ratings, pulsation values and the capacity of the structure as a whole. We add the remaining touches.
6. I’m flying! You have your own stabilizing HARNESS BLOCK for guitar effects! :)

What about food?
Write in the comments. Let’s remember that I’m singing with a lot of hustle.

Since a guitarist can easily access a large number of gadgets, it will soon become necessary to use a pedalboard. You will have to decide what kind of board to buy or buy, what pedals and in what order they should be there, as well as the amount of cables, regardless of whether you are ready to buy or use them yourself. And perhaps the most important decision you can praise is how to live all the pedals on your new pedalboard. There are three main aspects to this solution - voltage, power and insulation.

Fortunately for us, the popularity of Boss pedals allowed us to establish an unspoken standard for the life of the accessories, which regulates the level of constant voltage (DC) and the socket (jack) that is used. Most gadgets run on a 9V battery. This very simple fact served as a reference point for the further appearance of inputs for 9V DC power adapters (9V DC). These inputs were brown, if the musicians did not want to bother with batteries, and instead of the will of the mother, the ability to power their effects from the basic wall sockets of an alternating power supply (AC).

Boss valued the 2.1 mm DC input jack with a minus at the center for better design. And therefore, today, most pedals on the market follow this standard. If you see the input for food on your device, then there is a chance to get a label of the following type: 9 V DC, minus in the center (the icon shows a jack, and with minus in the center).

Of course, not all pedals are powered by 9V, so if your collection has such pedals, then remember. The parts of the device must be connected to 9 V alternating power supply (9V AC). Therefore, be careful not to connect the alternating power supply (AC) to the required device (DC). So it is certain that your device requires 18V or 24V DC, in any case, the manufacturer supplies such devices with a special adapter. And you need to try not to overload your pedals with too much voltage, but no one wants to end their pedalboard project with smoke!

What kind of life block fits the guitar pedals

Strum - there is no need to think about it. The strum, which produces the effect, is not to blame on the pedal itself. For this reason, it’s great for everything, I had a chance to look at the manual. Practical for all analogue devices, such as distortion, overdrive, fuzzy, quak, compressor, etc. will always be low (less than 20 mA or close to that). This is due to the fact that in such devices a small number of transistors and operational boosters are used with low forces to the point of effort.

On the other hand, digital devices include microprocessors or DSPs, possibly memory, logic chips, ADCs and DACs, plus any analog elements. If you literally drink millions of microtransistors in the middle of these digital chips, then such pedals will have a greater appetite. Digital pedals are expected to operate above 150 or 200 mA, and today’s digital pedals are expected to take this to heart.

It is important to remember that there is no crime in the fact that the mother needs more, no need. If your gear cannot supply the required speed, your pedals may not engage. Worse yet, the stinks can appear right in the middle of the ledge. Think of the strum as the “horses” of a car. If you have a 450 “horsepower” under the hood, then you won’t worry about them when leaving the garage, but you won’t have to wait until you step on the gas.

The correct voltage and currents are needed in order to mute your effects and perform correctly, and another important point for a low-noise hook is that it is not isolated food. Seemingly, strings and electronics can flow into each other in the light of effects, for better or for worse.

The biggest problem is noise, which I regularly hear, helping guitarists with their pedalboards - these earthen loops. The earthen loops begin to appear when the lancet lotion is powered with a garland wire, then. consistently. In this case of the earthling, the loop is blamed between the skin effect of the lancius!

Why are we to blame for the uniqueness of earthen loops?

Well, first of all, they allow weak magnetic fields to introduce noise into the red signal. Otherwise, these noise streams can penetrate your audio path instead of simply turning to life. If you only use one type of effect - distortion, then you may not notice the painful effect of ground loops. If your lens has modulation and delay effects, then, most likely, their input to the red signal will be noticeable.

To solve this problem, the producers of life-giving products created the products from non-isolated wastes. Voodoo Lab Iso-5 is an inexpensive yet effective device with multiple insulated outputs. In insulated housings, a transformer or a number of transformers are installed so that the skin output is electrically insulated. This prevents the guitar signal ground from making contact with the pedals on the lifeboat.

Ideally, you need to ensure that the ground path and the core signal path from the guitar to the booster are identical. Otherwise, the background and what goes with it mute the sound. The socket has many outlets, which are properly designed, as well as the stabilized sockets of life, a cleaner, lower primary socket. If there are a number of sockets nearby that you use for your pedals, it’s not bad at all. This also provides isolation (isolation), as the skin socket is used to support one pedal. [I respect this is relevant for these sockets, where the third contact is ground, I would like to have mercy. Note CraSS>

I'm sorry, there's a lot to think about here, but if you think everything through well, then you'll be exposed to a lot of troubles in the future. Observe the voltage, turn it over, and make sure there is enough fluid and visorize the insulating jigs for the skin pedal. Long shred!

Hello everyone!
Having said that, I will continue to look around at the music purchases.
Today, a life block for guitar pedals is a piece of cake for my pedalboard.
Read more below the cut)

Apparently, most guitar pedals require variable power supply – either (the most extensive option) 9V batteries (Krona), or a power supply. Many musicians believe that the best option is to keep the batteries alive, because... This option a priori saves the sound path from the noise that is introduced by unstabilized living blocks, often from the cheapest ones, from the nearest radio market. There is only one on the right if there are 1-2 such pedals, and concerts are held once every 3 months. What if you have to use it once a week, and the total supply of batteries on the board amounts to a dozen pieces? You can enjoy it yourself, as much as you are satisfied with it. In order not to rizikuvat the middle of the vistupa, it is necessary to be “silent”, so that you can put a new set on the vistupa.
So from now on, the time has come to buy a life block for your pedals.
I'm now obsessed with my recently beloved ham plant - AMT. However, the price tag on their life appeared to be even high, and because my pedals are mounted on both 9 and 18 V, I was not able to select the lanyard from different modules (AMT offers a unique modular system lively, I recommend google it), but it would have gone to the edge not budget. Then I marveled at such a well-known buyer like Yerasov. And having already bought this power supply for yourself, as if by raptoly having bought an absolute analogue of this power supply at a price that is twice as low. Having started googling and learning that these clever guys are buying Chinese power supplies, changing the labeling on them, putting an “OTK” sticker on them and selling them under their own brand. Moreover, due to the number of sounds, their power supply units are not isolated and often loudly “make noise”. So we continued to joke and talk. The 1st axis of the middle leads is pointed at the main character - the CALINE CP-05 life unit. First of all, I knew that galvanic isolation in the block costs 1900 rubles. It’s not hot, why the hell isn’t it hot?
As a result, having washed this block, what’s more, the options included delivery from the Russian Federation. Before that, I had discovered a noise suppressor - the NoiseGate pedal (well, I really hope the power supply will make noise! But I still want to muffle the “idle speed” of the compression pedal).

Screenshot pay

It's funny that the seller got the track codes wrong.
It was indicated that the courier in the Russian Federation will be sent to the housing unit, and after suppressing the basic aliexpress standard shipping, they gave me the track code in vain! I’m lost, and until the next moment I can’t understand what I’m coming!
At the same time, on the 5th month the order was paid, on the 10th day they delivered it to my home. Delivery was carried out by IML.

It looks like a very ordinary package. In the middle is a cardboard box, without any polystyrene or other dry substances. It’s a small leaf, which I immediately threw up.

In the middle of the corner box with the symbol of the generator, 3 more are carefully placed. In one living block itself, in another edge adapter, the third has a “bundle” of connecting cables. Before speaking, the cables are even more compact, with coiled connectors, soft in the world, but not snotty, as I was afraid.

additional information

The block itself is light; You will notice that it is important to use an adapter that is 10 times smaller.

additional information

On the block there is a large logo with the number 5 (modification may be required to suit the Nth number of channels), marking the input and output channels. The transmitter has 7 9V outputs with a power supply up to 100mA for basic analog pedals, 1 9V\500mA output for digital pedals, 12V\100mA and 18V\100mA.
On the other “facing” side there is an opening for cables and a connection indicator. There is a remixer in place, which allows the backlight to mix/disable. Getting ahead of ourselves - it’s better to stick in because Now my eyes are burning out. Pekelny Chinese blue lights!
On the lower side there are marvelous silver six-pieces sunk into the plate of the body. Marvelous. The case can be disassembled using 4 screws at the end.

I marvel at the lively adapter. Traditional power supply, as a result of a lot of everyday appliances. Exit 18V, 1A. I don’t know whether to be lazy or not to sing that this power supply is pulling out of all channels at the same time.

additional information

There are 9 cables for connecting. I want outputs 10. Amazing. I'll write to the seller.
And since the adapters are short, we don’t quite understand why there’s a stink. Shvidshe for everything to change the polarity (call "-" in the middle) Shvidshe put it on the pedalboard!

The size of the world accommodates a miracle! Meanwhile, I cleared the board coming from the BP from Yerasov, which is a little more. Well, it’s wonderful. The fastening is standard - through Velcro to the lower part of the power supply unit.
Today I have 4 pedals, of which 3 are rated at 9V and one is the AMT Bass Crunch-1 preamp at 18V. Okay, let's keep it quiet. I turn on the board, switch on the lights... and sleep! Zhah! I couldn’t take a photo properly. It’s killing these diodes! Turning on the light, taking a photo. It's better this way.

Then we turn on the combi. I have a small Kustom KG210FX at home. For domestic rights, I need it. Well, what can I say... at idle there is noise, but it’s hard to say whether the power supply unit or the combo itself is noisy. I’m rushing into the “rozriv” because... The vicoristic booster is AMT, but the digital power of the combo is not the same. After an hour of playing the guitar (both playing with my default bass guitar, a Yamaha RBX 375, and playing around with a BC Rich Warlock), all the pedals worked normally, without encountering any problems. You need to get to the studio and get back to normal. Just to make things even better, I powered the Robiton 18V preamp multi-adapter that I had lying around and put it back into the combo. Here I realized what the noise was! Zagalom, CALINE is much cooler than Robiton) Whoever doubted it...
I hope that after installing the noise reduction correctly, I will forget about this problem.
But my soul has no peace of mind to worry about. I took the power supply to work and gave it to electronics.
I really wanted to check the seller’s statement about “10 insulated outputs.” What does this mean? This means that there is a barrier between the input and output, which is like a high-frequency transformer, so that there is no electrical contact between the input and output. I asked the specialists to check it.

They sent me photos with the comment “to you on an apple”, there is no water insulation there. And cunningly aspirations for the 8th output, which crosses the call of the original tester. However, the ground near all canals is deep. Zagalom, deception by the seller.
I’m not a driver myself, the moped is not mine, and so on. I believe in all these people. I'm going to open the superechka obov'yazkovo.

additional information

As a summary - for inexperienced musicians the BP is very good, for 2000 rubles I think it has the right to sleep. And for stage work you can’t do anything without a well-tuned noise suppressor. Otherwise, you still have to spend money on stabilizing the life block with galvanic isolation along the skin channel. It will already cost 8000 rubles. However, it is not excluded that I will soon switch to a more expensive option.

Then I’ll bow out, I’ll be with you STRONTIUM That crooked bass player! Thank you for your respect!
