Dispatcher

One of the shortcomings: there is no indicator of sufficient RAM, which is typical for other Android smartphones, so it is not necessary manually, for which information you need to go into settings.
Screen lock
The lock screen of Flyme 4 is not very similar to its counterpart pure Android. There are no common core elements on the new one, and control works via swipes. A swipe up and down unlocks the phone, a swipe up and down opens the curtain of the row, a horizontal swipe right-handed and left-handed launches the camera, a swipe up and down launches the program specified in the smartphone settings. I’ll also remind you that in Meizu MX4 you can swipe on the darkened screen to allow you to launch required program Or unblock your smartphone without blocking the screen. Guest access is another great feature that I wouldn’t have seen on any smartphone. Once you have set the SIN on the lock screen, you can set an additional combination of numbers for guest access. SmartBar is one of the unique features of Flyme. This is a special toolbar that appears at the bottom of the screen while you are working in one or another program. It seems like a standard block of screen keys with Android 4.x, and its capabilities are much wider. In addition to the standard “Menu” and “Back” buttons, additional icons are displayed on them, unique to each specific program. For example, music player There will be icons for search, music library and customization, postal customer- an icon for creating a new sheet, and in the phone book there are icons for searching, dialing a number and contact list. In this case, if you need to switch to full-screen mode (for example, before starting something or watching a movie), SmartBar simply disappears, ceasing to take up valuable space on the screen. Please note that additional icons appear on the SmartBar only because the programmer has already provided this capability. In practice, there are already plenty of such additives, and more and more are becoming available every day. The idea of such a “reasonable” toolbar clearly struck a chord with me. And I’m not at all worried that I’ll show up like this once in Android. When you're done, you can plug in a smartbar for those programs that you don't need. Thus, in some applications you will not have a row with only a “back” button, and even the “back” action in Flyme is connected by swiping from the home button in any program or game (in MX4 Pro you can tap on the touch key).
Search
The global search menu is displayed via a swipe from the bottom up, displayed on any desktop screen. There's not a lot of searching going on for every smartphone. You can see documents, programs, contacts, browser bookmarks and other speeches lost.
The developers clearly saw this idea in the remaining iPhones, but it certainly didn’t get any worse.
Keyboard
The keyboard has always been a weak spot for Flyme. In the fourth version of this shell, little has changed. This keyboard has arrived from the distant past, in which about Swype, the dictionaries of Koristuvach, or the system of predictive text input, no one has yet felt. So, it looks bad, it’s good to fit the new corporate style of Flyme and supports all the words that are in the system, but that’s where its advantages end.
Moreover, in setting up the smartphone, it became possible to activate the TouchPal keyboard, which is much more functional and manual. Here there is a manual system of prompts and correction of drukar’s strikes (which is turned off after washing), and high accuracy of the drukar, which always depends on the large buttons. Numbers, division marks and basic service symbols must be entered manually - instead of pressing the button for a long time (which is good for everyone), simply swipe down on the required keyboard button, and then press the special character. On the top of the keyboard there is a large row of icons: select the keyboard layout (qwerty or qwertz), menu of graphic and text emoticons, voice input, customize the menu.
The Russian keyboard has no dictionary support and auto-correction. Additional symbols on the keys are also not transferred. On the main layout of the keyboard there are only dotted and clotted signs, for all other sectional signs you have to go to additional screen with service symbols. When entering numbers, the story is similar; all entries are displayed around the screen. I change everything and put a simple keyboard on the screw without a manual solution. The phone book easily accepts contacts from your Google account. It’s a pity that it’s not possible to filter cards without telephone numbers, which the telephone directory has absolutely no need for. The entries are sorted by alphabet, with English names coming first. If the contact does not have a corresponding picture or photograph assigned to it, then instead of it the letter that begins with the name will be displayed. You have to go out and finish it manually, but it looks like nothing at all.
A swipe from the left edge of the screen opens a wide menu in which you can select a group or specify a contact list (local, Gmail, contacts from installed instant messengers, etc.).
From other great moments You can select auto-replay and the ability to record voices. These functions are enabled when the phone book is configured. In addition, you can block calls from all unknown phone numbers or manually add new numbers to the black list.
Work with SMS
The program for working with SMS has nothing special, everything here is done as standard. All information is presented in the vicinity of listings with specific contacts. A long tap on the list allows you to pin it to the top of the screen, delete it, or add the recipient to the blacklist. After scrolling, the following icons appear on the Smart Bar.

The owner's name can either be entered manually (as soon as the name is entered, a list of contacts is displayed), or simply selected from the address book. Before the text of the SMS, you can attach data about the exact location or information about the contact from the phone book. You can also attach a photo from your camera or gallery, or attach any other file that is saved on your smartphone. The notification will be automatically converted to MMS.
With customized programs, you can set up a spam filter, notify delivery notifications, and add a special pop-up window in which the notification text is displayed (this applies only to private numbers).
Camera
The camera interface, to my liking, can be done manually. We are sure that the settings that are suitable for the selected capture mode will always be displayed on the screen. There are 9 different modes to choose from: “Auto”, “ Manual mode”, “Portrait”, “Panorama”, “Change focus”, “Nich”, “Improved capture”, “Macro” and a QR code scanner, which has unsurprisingly crammed itself here, but is even more handy (no need to install additional supplement). To switch to another mode, just tap the camera icons at the top of the screen or create a basic swipe. If the mode is manual or has few special options, then the icons of all necessary tools There will be displays in the lower part of the viewer window.

There is nothing particularly special about Flyme’s customizations - most of the features have already been guessed, other items are typical for any Android smartphone. So I’ll just share some screenshots, which, in my opinion, don’t require any special explanations. And the menu design itself is of great interest. Meizu tried to play around with the large diagonal and not quite standard proportions of the MX4 display.
On the left side of the screen there is a special menu with icons for settings sections, which seems to suggest the alphabetical rubricator of the telephone directory. If you pull the menu bar with your right hand, almost the entire screen will open and full names of sections will appear from the icons. You can navigate between menu sections in either open or closed view. In this way, the transition between menu items is always done in one click, and the “locked” screen width does not just disappear, but is changed for reference.
Among the available options is registration and linking the phone to the Flyme cloud account - but not allowing you to officially remove Root access on your smartphone (there was no way to protest). Adjustable font size (there are five options to choose from, from “Small” to “Large”) and three living modes – “Energy Saving”, “Balancing” and “Productive”.
The main disadvantage is that Flyme 4 does not have separate sound controls. There is only one step that regulates the extreme volume of sound in all programs at once. Flyme's browser follows the traditional Chinese style and seems to imperceptibly resemble solutions such as Baidu Browser or UC Browser. First of all, I mean the traditionally manual head screen. It consists of three tabs, switching between them is done using a horizontal swipe. The central tab is occupied by icons of sites, which are most often found on the website; below the views is a list of relevant Internet resources, divided into categories. File manager
The file manager interface follows this same principle, so that the menu interface can be customized. On the left side of the screen there is a panel with category icons. Using a horizontal swipe, you can stretch them across the entire screen, and then captions will appear in order of the icons. As a result, moving from one category to another happens in a literal sense in one tap, without any tedious transitions rich menu, long search for the required folder and other folders. This is a handy function that will prevent the list of folders from the Gallery from being converted into a list of contents over time.
