UltraISO is a functional software product designed to perform numerous operations with disk images.

Disk images are now becoming more popular than physical drives because of their ease of use without the need for a disk drive. For virtual disks, you need an appropriate drive or storage device to which it will be written in the future. To understand all this will help the UltraISO programs, and we want to talk about its use further.

At the moment, most users use flash drives to install operating systems due to the lack of a drive or the ease of recording an image. The transfer of all files and preparation of the drive is carried out using special programs. UltraISO also includes a separate tool to perform a similar procedure. You will find detailed guides on this topic in our other materials, presented on the links below.

Disk imaging

As for the main functionality of the software in question, it focuses on creating a disk image. The finished image will fully conform to the structure of the CD, having the same content hierarchy and file system. The user is only required to enter the data he needs and configure the record, all other actions will be carried out by the software automatically. The article below contains all the necessary information on this topic.

Burning an image to a disk or flash drive

In the previous paragraph, we talked about creating an image. If you have read these instructions, you should definitely be able to do the required procedure. Having a ready-made virtual image, it can be written to a disk or flash drive in order to be read from other devices later. UltraISO will also help with this. As you can see, its convenience lies in the fact that all actions are performed in one place without the need to download additional software.

Creating a virtual drive

Another important function of the software in question is the creation of virtual drives. Through them, ready-made images are launched or other work is performed. The user only needs to go to a special menu, indicate the number of devices used, set a letter and save the changes. The finished drive will be displayed in the section "This computer" in the form of an empty slot for reading discs.

Mount image

Mounting an image refers to connecting a virtual disk to the created virtual drive. This operation emulates the physical installation of the drive into the drive. It is necessary to carry out such actions when it is necessary to launch a disk, for example, with a series, program or application, while maintaining its structural integrity. If UltraISO is installed on the computer and is selected by the program by default, it should mount the image immediately after clicking on the corresponding file.

Installing games

Nowadays, many games are distributed in ISO format, and this type of file refers to disc images. To run it, you need to use a certain software, for example, UltraISO. The image will be mounted, then the game can be installed on the computer. For a detailed description on this topic, see our separate article by clicking on the following link.

Let's get down to working with the UltraISO program. After launching the program, double-clicking on the program shortcut on the desktop, we will see the main working UltraISO window.

Above is the main menu of the program, just below - the quick launch panel.

Now let's take a look at the most popular functions of the UltraISO program.

1. Create a disk image.
We insert into the CD or DVD drive the disc you want to image. Then we launch the UltraISO program, click the top menu item Tools -> Create CD image, click on it and see the image creation settings menu.

Also, this menu can be called from the quick launch panel by clicking on the Create CD image icon or by pressing the F8 key.

In the window that appears, select the CD / DVD drive (if there are several of them), just below select the location where to save the created image. Next, we specify the output format (I recommend * .ISO or .MDF / .MDS) and click the Make button. The speed of image creation depends on the speed of the drive, the characteristics and type of the disc, the amount of data on the disc and the power of the computer.

2. Loading a disk image.
Before loading a virtual disk, you may need to set the number of virtual drives (if 1 drive is enough for you, you can skip this setting). Go to the top menu under Options -> Settings. In the window that appears, select the Virtual drive tab from above and in the Number of devices line specify the number of virtual drives. For my version of the program, the maximum number of virtual drives is 8. Select the number of drives that you need, for example 2. By default, after installing UltraISO, 1 virtual drive is created.

Now, let's start mounting the image into the UltraISO virtual drive. Press the top menu Tools -> Mount to virtual drive, you can also click the desired icon from the quick access panel or press the (F6) key.

In the window that appears, select the virtual drive where the image will be mounted, then select the image file, for this we press the Browse button (the button with the image of three dots). Next, click Mount. It may take 2 clicks.

As soon as the message download appears opposite the selected drive, the window can be closed.

To open the mounted image, go to my computer and click on the virtual drive, you can also right-click on the virtual drive and select UltraISO -> Auto play from the menu that appears.

To eject a virtual disk that has become unnecessary, you need to right-click on the drive and select UltraISO -> Eject in the menu that appears.

3. Burning the created image to CD / DVD.
This feature is very useful as it allows you to create personal boot disks for operating systems, anti-virus boot disks, full game disks, etc.

To burn the image, you will need a blank disc and a finished image. Then, in the top menu, select the Tools -> Burn CD Image item, or press the corresponding icon on the quick launch bar or press the F7 key.

In the window that appears, select the drive for recording the image, Write speed, Write method - you can leave it alone. In the Image file field, specify the path to the image to be recorded. Then press the button Record and watch the recording process. At the end of the recording, your drive will open automatically, and the UltraISO warning about the end of the disc burning will appear on the computer screen.

Today, more and more netbooks and laptops are produced that do not have a CD-ROM drive. Windows 10 or a previous version of this operating system preinstalled on your computer may crash and freeze over time. If its restoration and other methods do not help, the system will have to be reinstalled. Since netbooks do not have a disk drive, you will have to make a bootable USB flash drive to reinstall Windows.

But even some owners of stationary PCs prefer to install the OS not from a disk, but from a removable media, since it is easier to store and carry it this way. You can write an operating system image to a USB flash drive through a convenient utility Ultra ISO... This tutorial will help you create such an image.

Preparing an image for recording via UltraISO

First, we need to download the Windows 10 ISO image. This can be done using the official website. To do this, follow the link: https://www.microsoft.com/ru-RU/software-download/windows10. If you are not satisfied with the 10 version of the system, but you need an earlier version, for example XP, 7 or 8, then find and download the corresponding image via the Internet.

To make a bootable USB flash drive, use only licensed clean software and do not download various modified versions, as, subsequently, problems often arise with them when transferring system files and subsequent installation.

If you have downloaded Windows XP, 7, 8 or 10, the next step is to install and run UltraISO (by the way, you can use it for free for a month). In the working window of the program, click the open button, it is highlighted in a red square in the screenshot:

The corresponding tool for creating a bootable USB drive will be launched, and an image of the selected OS (XP, 7, 8 or 10) will open at the top of the program. You will see a list of system installation files and folders.

Preparing and recording an image to a USB drive via UltraISO

To create a bootable USB stick, insert it into the USB port. It is worth noting that removable media must have at least 4GB of memory. For Windows XP, you can use a USB flash drive of at least 2 GB. For a successful image creation, the USB drive must be formatted in FAT32 system. This can be done through the system: in the folder " My computer»Click on the device with the right mouse button and click« Format". In the settings, check the FAT32 box.

All the necessary information, if any on the flash drive, must be saved in the hard disk memory, since formatting deletes all existing files. This operation can also be carried out later through a special window for recording and creating UltraISO.

If the USB stick is ready and inserted into the port, you can proceed to the next step. In the UltraISO window, select the command "" → " Burn Hard Disk Image ...».

A window will open for recording a hard disk, in which you need to select our USB drive (check under which letter of the Latin alphabet it is marked in the folder " My computer"). Here you can also format the USB flash drive if you have not done so earlier. Click the Burn button to burn the ISO image. Next, you will be warned that all information will be deleted. Click Yes. Next, the process of unpacking and copying files begins. We are waiting until the download is complete. Here you can see the approximate remaining time and recording speed, which will depend on the power of your computer.

After you are notified that the recording is complete, you can close UltraISO and check for an image on the USB drive. The number of files will vary depending on the system. Thus, Windows XP takes up less memory and therefore has fewer files.

Then you can use a bootable USB drive at your discretion. It is ready to be installed on your computers. To do this, you need to start from it on the desired device and then follow the prompts. If you have never installed Windows using a bootable USB drive before, read on how to do this.

As mentioned earlier, this instruction to write ISO can be used for any OS. It is best to have a bootable USB flash drive so that in the event of a system failure, you can use it. Please note that in the article about there are as many as 5 ways to create a bootable device from an ISO file.
