Close photoshop. Recover Adobe Photoshop files (.psd)

Read, how to set up Autosave and AutoRecover files in Adobe Photoshop... Let's consider programs for recovering deleted .psd images. Adobe Photoshop is very reliable software, but like other programs it is prone to crashes and errors that do not necessarily depend on the program itself, but more often on the user.

This happens when working with a variety of plugins or add-ons, very large images. And as a rule, unexpectedly, when the user did not save the changes made to the file. Believing in the reliability of the program, users often do not have the habit of regularly saving the file.

Activate the auto save function

The user cannot prevent a software error or glitch, but it is possible to prepare for it in advance. You can save the file regularly, but it's better to set up Photoshop's autosave feature.

By default, if you enable this function, the autosave time is set to every 10 minutes. But a lot of work can be done in 10 minutes and therefore it is better to set the minimum allowable value - 5 minutes.

Note: the program allows you to set the interval for automatic file saving in the range from 5 minutes to 60 minutes.

To enable and configure the specified function, open Adobe Photoshop, go to the bookmark: Editing / Installations / File handling

In the window that opens, check the boxes opposite "Keep in background" and "Automatically save recovery information"and also set the desired time period.

Automatic recovery

If the autosave function is configured correctly, opening Adobe Photoshop after a crash or freeze in the program, it should offer to restore the latest version of the autosave file. But often for some reason this does not happen.

In this case, go to the folder on drive: C, in which Photoshop saves versions of documents for automatic recovery in PSB format (this is the same PSD file that supports large files and can be opened with Photoshop).

This folder can be found in the following path:

C: \\ Users \\ Username\\ AppData \\ Roaming \\ Adobe \\ Adobe Photoshop CS6 (or CC) \\ AutoRecover

Go into it and you will find a PSB file to automatically restore the latest autosaved version of the Adobe Photoshop file.

Note: do not rush to open this file, as immediately after opening it, Photoshop will delete it. Therefore, it is better to create a copy of the AutoRecover file before opening or having already opened it, be sure to save it as a new image.

AppData folder

By default, the operating system specifies that the AppData folder to which Adobe Photoshop files are auto-saved is hidden. Therefore, if you do not see her at the above address, do not be alarmed. Just configure Windows to show hidden files and folders.

To do this, open Control Panel and go to the menu Explorer options.

After that, go to the View tab and activate the function "Show hidden files, folders and drives".

Programs for recovering .psd files

If the autosave function was not configured at the time of a software crash or unexpected problems that caused the loss of the file, then to restore it, you must use an image program that supports the .psd format.

Not many programs will help to restore this particular format. But working with a user will not have any difficulties with the restoration of digital images of any format.

Often when working with many images in Photoshop, the program has so many tabs for each of them that it becomes very difficult to close them all at once. In this tutorial, we'll take a look at a few ways to quickly close tabs in Photoshop. Which one you use is up to you.

Images opened in Photoshop, each of which is in its own tab, looks like this:

How do you close them?

Method number 1

Just click on the cross in the corner of the image. This method will help you when you need to cover several photos, and not all at once.

Method number 2

Right-click on the top of the tab and select Close.

Method number 3

Navigate to the image you want to close and click keyboard shortcut Ctrl + W. This will close the active tab.

Method number 4

To close all tabs at once, just press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Q. However, this method also has a drawback: the program itself will close along with the tabs. This method is very convenient in case you are going to completely finish your work with Photoshop.

Method number 5

To close all images while leaving the program open, right-click any tab and select Close All. This will allow you, unlike method number 4, to close all photos without restarting the program.

If you spot an error in the text, select it and press Ctrl + Enter. Thanks!

Manufacturers of office and graphics programs have been actively introducing the function of automatic saving and restoring files in recent years. What is this function and why is it needed?

While working with an image or PSD document in Adobe Photoshop, the user may accidentally close the program without being saved, or the program will close itself as a result of a failure or error, the computer may shut down as a result of a power surge or an operating system failure. When reopening the file, the program did not offer to restore the latest version of the file.

This is a fairly common situation that leads to the loss of the finished material and, as a result, the precious time that was spent working on it.

There are several options with which you can recover data. This is to restore the last automatically saved version of the file, from a backup copy, or using the automatic restore function. In some cases, you cannot do without third-party programs for recovering photoshop files and other images.

Auto save function

In the situation described above, the best solution to the problem would be to use the automatic saving function of the photoshop program. With its help, you can avoid the loss of important PSD or any other image format.

To configure this function, do the following:

Open Adobe Photoshop and go to the menu Editing - Preferences - File Handling

In the menu that opens Installations, go to section File handling

In subsection File save options set the options for automatically saving recovery information.

Automatically save recovery information - the function allows you to set the frequency of storage from 5 minutes to one hour.

Automatic recovery function

After setting up the autosave function, Adobe Photoshop will save a copy of the file information for recovery at the specified frequency.

If the program crashes or closes, you can restore the autosaved file as follows:

Navigate to the AutoRecover folder with the autosaved copies of the Adobe Photoshop files:

C: \\ Users \\ Name user \\ AppData \\ Roaming \\ Adobe \\ Adobe Photoshop CS6 \\ AutoRecover

Open the .psd or .psb of the corresponding file

Note

The AutoRecover folder is hidden by default in Windows. In order to go to it, you must activate the function of displaying hidden files and folders.

Programs for recovering photoshop files

If the autosave function was not configured at the time of the software crash or unexpected problems that caused the loss of the file, then you need to use the PSD file recovery tool to restore it.

Deleted photo recovery software Hetman Photo Recovery, will recover deleted or lost images in PSD, PNG or JPG format.

Just start the program and scan with it the medium from which the image was lost.

The program allows you to set the format of the image you want to restore, which greatly simplifies the task for the user. Among many others, .psd and .psb formats are also available.

If you spot an error in the text, select it and press Ctrl + Enter. Thanks!
