The answer is very simple: you need to press the "CAPS" button.
Key " Caps lock"is responsible for the brush display mode and in 99.99% of cases, the brush disappeared and the sight icon is visible, without a border, this most likely happened due to accidental pressing of the "Caps Lock" button... Pressing the "CapsLock" button again will return the display of the brush or eraser in Photoshop back to the usual display of the cursor.

However, as it turned out, there is nothing wrong in this case, and the error can be fixed quite simply.

Brush size is not visible in Photoshop, how to fix
Once, when I, being a novice computer user, and also a beginner in the information business, was doing my first book cover, my brush disappeared.
More precisely, instead of a brush, I saw only a cross, by which it is difficult to determine the true size of the brush.
Although, before that, everything was fine with the brush. I began to reason why the usual cursor circle could disappear.
After I used the brush normally, I switched to the text tool.
I wrote the title on the cover in Caps Lock mode, that is, in capital letters.
After that, I again selected the brush tool, but it was in the form of a cross.
Looking at the keyboard, I noticed that I had not switched the layout back to its previous state, that is, I had not turned off Caps Lock.
After pressing this button, my brush became the same - a circle appeared showing the brush size!
In such a simple way, I returned my instrument to its original form.
However, there are situations when the brush size is not visible in Photoshop for other reasons, and we will consider them below.
Installations
If you have Caps Lock disabled, and instead of a circle there is still a cross, then go to the program settings, it is quite possible that the problem is in them.
Click the tab - edit and in the drop-down list go down to the very bottom to the word - settings.
By moving the cursor to it, you will open another menu in which we need to select - cursors.
After clicking on the line, the settings for this tool will open. That is, here you can specify how the cursor of the active tool will look in the Photoshop program.
Choosing - the exact cursor, you get a cross. By which, however, it is difficult to judge the size of the brush.
And by choosing - Normal Brush Tip, you get a circle indicating the size of the selected tool.
By the way, you can also choose the full size brush tip, which indicates the size more precisely. That is, a soft brush shows not only the area to be painted, but also the area of \u200b\u200bblur.
Scale
If all of the above methods did not fit in your case, then it is quite possible that your tool is too large.
For example, an open image is equal to six hundred pixels. And the size of the active brush is five thousand pixels.
In fact, you will not see the boundaries of the selected tool in any case, since they are much larger than the picture.
You will only see the central part, that is, the cross in the center of the brush.
You can see the actual size of the brush on the top panel, in the tool settings.
There you can also specify the size you need and adjust the hardness of the brush.
